Tunage >> random and obscure

I saw Muxtape on Sarah Lane’s Tumblelog. The site lets you create a mixtape online with up to 12 MP3s that you upload. I decided to sign up and start uploading some kewl songs. Here’s my first Mux. I went with a bunch of random and obscure songs to showcase. I explain why I like the songs below. Hope you enjoy the songs!

Tunage explained

Underworld – Something Like A Mama >> This song always seems to get stuck in my mind. It’s a lot slower than most of their songs, but it’s very catchy and dancy. This song is on the great album Beaucoup Fish.

The Cure – Catch >> This is a simple song by The Cure. It’s mellow and sweet.

Clan of Xymox – At the End of the Day >> This is from the band’s less gothic album Phoenix. I find it really romantic. It just shows how a person can affect us.

Aphex Twin – Bucephalus bouncing Ball >> This is an instrumental song. Aphex Twin is known for experimental electronic music. This song sounds like a ball that bounces around. Pretty kewl!

Faustina – Crazy Bitch >> Faustina is a now defunct band of three girls from New Hampshire (if I remember correctly). I found this song on MP3.com years ago. This is just a silly song. I love the lead singer’s beautiful voice.

The Smashing Pumpkins – Daydream >> This is one of the songs from their debut album Gish. It’s a beautiful, ethereal song sung by D’Arcy. At the end, there’s a short pause and then an extra part with Billy Corgan singing.

The Shamen – L.S.I.: Love Sex Intelligence >> This is a great dance song.

Postal Service – Angel Pumping Gas >> This is a cute song where a guy falls in love with a girl at the gas station.

The Beatles – Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite! >> The first time I heard this song was at the Cirque du Soleil show Love at The Mirage. It reminds me of a crazy circus. It’s a fun song.

808 State – Fahita >> This was an exclusive download from Amazon. It’s an instrumental song. I love this song for it’s awesome beats. The main part reminds me of something I’ve heard before.. but I still can’t recall what.

Crazy

I’m just going a bit crazy.. Ivan’s back in England. It’s seriously torture. There’s a big 8 hour time difference. So, that’s a bit weird… but it’s good that he’s a night owl. So, I can talk to him when I get home on Skype. Skype is amazing. He has a Vegas Skype-in number so I can call him without getting charged… then also call forwarding will forward it to his cell phone when he’s not on Skype. The internet is awesome! I just wish he would hurry back. *Sigh*

I’m going to see the Australian Pink Floyd tribute show. I can’t wait! I heard they’re really great. I hope they play Dark Side of the Moon. I’ve never seen Pink Floyd.. so I guess this is the next best thing. That reminds me.. I saw The Fab Four. They sound just like The Beatles. Great show to see in Vegas. Off to get ready for the show! 🙂

Twitter thoughts

Ok, I decided to give Twitter a try. It’s interesting to see what people are doing, even if you don’t know who the hell they are. I do like the celebrity or movie personality pages… I like R2D2’s page. I like the public timeline. I hope they improve it more to let you include images and input longer messages.
I found a great page that has some Twitter programs. I saw it over at Amber Mac’s page. I placed a RSS feed for my Twitter on the sidebar. I can’t post the badge since it’s in flash. Also, you can access my Twitter from this link. Add me as a friend or be one of my followers.  I just installed twitteroo. I’ll post my thoughts later on the software.

Newsvine thoughts

I received an invite today and decided to check it out. I really like the layout.. it’s very simple and easy to navigate. It does remind me of Digg since it’s a community news site. You can vote on stories, chat with other users and leave comments. You’re also given your own column at username.newsvine.com where you can post stories or write about any subject. Another plus is the revenue you can generate. It’s based on the ads that are shown on your column. 90% of the revenue will go to you and then 10% to the person who referred you. If nobody referred you, the 10% goes to Newsvine.

I have some Newvine invites. If you’re interested, please leave me a comment with your e-mail and tell me what kewl things you would do with your newsvine column. I’ll choose the best 7 5 comments and give them a nice invite. Don’t forget to leave a valid e-mail or I won’t be able to send an invite!

Torment me

It's good to hear that Morrissey will be releasing a new album this year. It is called Ringleader of the Tormentors. It should be coming out on April 4, 2006 in the US. Read about it here. He has the most amazing voice and great lyrics.

I forgot to post about Pandora. It's a nice free music service. Just register and then type in any band or singer and it will find new artists related to them. I made a Morrissey station.

Here's some lovely Moz lyrics.

I Like You – by Morrissey

Something in you caused me to, Take a new tact with you, You were going through something, I had just about scraped through
Why do you think I let you get away, With the things you say to me?, Could it be I like you, It's so shameful of me, I like you

No one I ever knew or have spoken to, Resembles you, This is good or bad, all depending on, My general mood
Why do you think I let you get away, With all the things you say to me?, Could it be I like you, It's so shameful of me, I like you

Magistrates who spend their lives, Hiding their mistakes
They look at you and I, and, Envy makes them cry, Envy makes them cry

Forces of containment, They shove their fat faces into mine, You and I just smile, Because we're thinking the same lines
Why do you think I let you get away, With all the things you say to me?, Could it be I like you, It's so shameful of me, I like you

You're not right in the head and nor am I, And this why, You're not right in the head and nor am I, And this why
This is why I like you, I like you, I like you, This is why I like you, I like you, I like you
Because you're not right in the head, and nor am I, And this is why, You're not right in the head, and nor am I
And this is why, This is why I like you, I like you, I like you, I like you
This is why I like you, I like you, I like you, I like you, This is why I like you, I like you
